Salmon & Sea Trout Report

There was very little movement on the counter until the third week in May at about the time the wet April and early May rains finished. From the 22nd of May we started to see good numbers of MSW fish, including six of our tagged, fish with sizes ranging from 70cm up to about 1m. There seems to be no correlation so far between higher flow and fish movement since fish started moving. I have only verified up to 28th June so far but a quick look through the file shows about 50 Salmon heading upstream, along with a few fair sized Sea Trout.

We have also had good success netting trout in the harbour with 7 or 8 having been tagged with both PIT and Floy tags and released.
